Chasing Aces - Narrative Analysis

0:07 - Contrast and irony in the use of the bible and money in the video.

0:10 - Foreshadowing of gambling addiction very early on. then similar shots used throughout.

0:15 - 0:20 - The band appear more prominent during the chorus.

0:29 - The man getting fired from his job, due  to his gambling addiction. 

0:40 - He continues to gamble even though he has lost his job and has a family at home - hedonistic lifestyle.

0:41 - Life at home with wife stressed out as she looks after baby on her own, whilst waiting on her husband/boyfriend. 

0:50- 0:51 - Bills left unpaid and central in the frame. Clearly other legal areas the family are struggling with.

0:57 - Argument between the two suggests the breakdown of the family and relationship between the wife and husband/boyfriend due his actions. 

 

02:43 - The man seeks redemption for his gambling by going to the church, and refers back to the first shot of the bible and money.

 

02:53 - The man holds the fixation to his gambling habits. 

 

02:57 - By throwing away the money, he is symbolically throwing away his gambling addiction.
